Choosing a plough, disc harrow or seedbed cultivator

Different stages of soil preparation

A plough turns the soil during primary tillage. A disc harrow cuts and mixes the surface layer and crop residues. A seedbed cultivator prepares the seedbed. The choice depends on previous tillage, field conditions and the crop to be sown; these implements do not perform the same job in every condition.

Check suitability for your tractor

Before choosing a working width, check tractor power, lift capacity, hitch and hydraulics, as well as transport requirements. The VDS catalogue includes 2.7 m and 3.6 m disc harrows and a 5 m seedbed cultivator. Provide your tractor model and intended use for a quotation and a suitability check.
